Machine Production Manager

Fristam Pumps USA has an immediate opening for a Machine Production Manager    

Department:  Machining

Reports To:  Vice President of Operations

Summary:  Responsible for growing the machining department along with the company by leading and training associates and by continuously improving machining processes and methods for quality, efficiency and cost-reduction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensures that equipment and facilities are clean and properly maintained for efficient production.
  • Promotes associate growth and development through training and mentoring.
  • Applies lean techniques in support of operations excellence, program execution and the company goals and objectives.
  • Effectively works with other department supervisors, quality, engineering and operations to develop and execute plans and projects to meet future production needs.
  • Recommends equipment upgrades, staffing needs, equipment maintenance and selection of equipment, service or vendors.  
  • Responsible for reviewing / approving associate work schedules and timesheets; recommends overtime and ensures appropriate staffing for overtime; ensures that associates receive timely feedback and annual performance reviews.
  • Effectively manage vendor and customer relationships and expectations.
  • Develops new machining processes as needed. 
  • Responsible for completing departmental cycle counts on-time and according to schedule.
  • Supports the Business Management System including 5S activities and workplace scans. Administers company policies and procedures fair and equitably.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Ability to lead a project from inception to completion; utilizes short and long-term planning skills.
  • Problem resolution and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and independently; foster positive working relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Maintains a thorough knowledge of all processes and equipment.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and be accountable for quality 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities; establish and achieve goals.
  • Exhibits strong leadership skills, with excellent oral and written communication.
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of technical drawings and machining processes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent project management and process improvement skills
  • Solid computer skills, experience with Microsoft Office Suite required.

Education and Work Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or related discipline with a minimum of five years’ experience in a manufacturing management role. In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 10 years’ experience in a large manufacturing management role.
  • Previous project management experience a plus.
  • Proven ability to improve manufacturing processes; Lean manufacturing techniques a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to grow a department to meet company objectives and growth.
  • Previous experience using shop floor control, production planning and inventory control applications.
