Try Before You Buy - Fristam Pump, Mixing & Blending Trials

Selecting the right hygienic pump or mixing solution is critical to your process performance. That’s why Fristam offers structured product trial opportunities designed to help you validate performance, reduce risk, and move forward with confidence.

Our trial program allows qualified customers to evaluate Fristam pumps, mixers, and blenders in real-world operating conditions before making a final investment decision — with full technical support from our applications team.

Why Request a Product Trial?

Investing in process equipment is a significant decision. A Fristam trial helps you:

  • Validate performance in your actual application
  • Reduce process risk before full implementation
  • Compare technologies with real product data
  • Confirm cleanability and hygienic performance
  • Evaluate shear sensitivity for delicate products
  • Build internal confidence for specification approval

For many processors, a properly executed trial shortens validation timelines and accelerates project approvals.

Trial Program Guidelines
To ensure successful outcomes for all parties, Fristam trials follow a structured framework.

Program investment
Product trials involve a program fee that helps cover equipment preparation, technical support, and logistics. A portion of this investment may be credited toward the purchase of qualifying Fristam equipment. (Specific terms vary by equipment type and will be outlined in your order documentation.)

Defined evaluation window
Trials are conducted within a defined evaluation period that begins when the unit ships and concludes when the equipment is returned. Maintaining the agreed timeline helps ensure availability for other customers and efficient program operation.

Shipping responsibilities
Customers are responsible for freight costs to and from their facility unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Pre-trial alignment meeting
Before shipment, Fristam conducts a short alignment meeting with your team to confirm application readiness, success criteria, and technical requirements.

Site readiness
Customers should be prepared for the trial start date, including:

  • Electrical connections
  • Fluid/process connections
  • Product availability
  • Appropriate utilities

(Full requirements are provided in the trial technical sheet.)

Care and operation
Trial equipment must be operated in accordance with Fristam manuals and within rated limits. Customers are responsible for damage resulting from misuse, improper assembly, running equipment dry, or processing unapproved materials.

Return condition
At the conclusion of the trial, the unit must be:

  • Thoroughly cleaned
  • Properly packaged in the original container
  • Returned with required documentation

Additional fees may apply for late returns, damage, or excessive cleaning.

On-site support
A Fristam factory-assigned representative will be involved during the trial to support proper setup, operation, and evaluation.

What Equipment Is Available for Trial?
Depending on availability and application fit, Fristam may offer trials for:

  • Twin screw pumps
  • Shear mixers
  • Colloid mills
  • Powder mixers and blenders
  • Powder induction equipment

Each trial request is reviewed by our applications team to ensure the best technical fit.

When Should You Consider a Trial?
A product trial is especially valuable when process performance, product integrity, and scale-up confidence are critical. Beyond evaluating pump performance alone, trials also provide an opportunity to validate blending, dispersion, and particle size reduction characteristics using production-relevant equipment.

You should strongly consider a trial when:

  • Pumping shear-sensitive products where gentle handling and product integrity must be verified
  • Scaling up production and needing real data to support process transfer
  • Replacing underperforming or high-maintenance equipment
  • Supporting validation requirements in pharmaceutical or biotech applications
  • Comparing performance against incumbent technologies
  • Assessing powder incorporation, wet-out, and dispersion efficiency
  • Optimizing emulsification, homogenization, or particle size reduction
  • Verifying blending uniformity, recirculation strategies, and batch consistency prior to full-scale investment
  • Evaluating multipurpose processing capability (pumping + mixing + cleaning) with Twin Screw Pumps

By leveraging Fristam’s loaner fleet processors can generate application-specific data, reduce scale-up risk, and make confident equipment decisions before committing capital.
